Life Fellow Membership ASOPRS Bylaws 3.3 Voting Membership
3.3(c) 3. Life Fellows. Life Fellows are Voting Members in Good Standing who:
a) Request a change in Membership status to Life Fellow; and b) Are granted such a change in status by the Board of Directors based upon:
i. Reaching seventy (70) years of age; or ii. Being a member in good standing for thirty-five (35) years: or iii. Being fully retired from the practice of OPS and ophthalmology.
As a Life Fellow Member, you will have the same voting rights and can attend the meetings with the same privileges, participate in a quorum for the purposes of voting, and hold appointed office. You cannot hold an elected office, however. You may participate in committees and workgroups as described in the Bylaws and/or the Committee Charters of the Society.
Click here to apply for Life Fellow Membership. Your request will be considered at the next Regular Board Meeting.
If request is received prior to the spring board meeting, and approved at that board meeting, Life Membership will take effect in the current year, with current year's dues waived, and you are eligible for Life Member complimentary Fall Meeting Registration.
If request is received after the spring board meeting, Life Membership will be granted starting January 1 of the following year. The current year's dues (and any outstanding prior year dues) must be paid in full before the status is granted, and you are not eligible for complimentary Fall Meeting Registration.
Once you are granted Life Fellow Membership, you may still be charged fees for activities related to the Society.
